Description: Do you work with small business owners interested in raising capital from investors? Would you like to help them better understand the process? This session will provide an overview of the capital-raising landscape and introduce educational resources to support your work. Participants will explore the intersection of securities laws and capital raising by reviewing user-friendly educational resources available at https://www.sec.gov/resources-small-businesses/additional-government-resources-small-businesses. This session will also feature a data-informed discussion on recent trends in capital raising. Attendees are encouraged to ask questions and share feedback on provided resources.

    Instructor Bio: Stacey Bowers serves as the Director of the Small Business Advocacy Office at the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), bringing a broad range of experience to the role. Prior to her current position, she was a Professor of Practice and Director of the Corporate and Commercial Law Program at University of Denver Sturm College of Law, where she taught corporate and securities law.
